In an era where algorithms and fleeting trends increasingly drive music, some artists cut through the noise with sincerity, craftsmanship, and undeniable charm. One such act is Good Neighbours, the rising UK-based indie-pop duo whose sound feels like a breath of fresh air in a saturated landscape. Balancing heartfelt lyricism with infectious melodies, Good Neighbours is quickly becoming a name to watch.
Formed by long-time friends Scott Verrill and Ollie Green, Good Neighbours emerged from the fertile creative ground of East London. Though the name might be new to many, both members have been active behind the scenes in the music world—Scott as the artist formerly known as Svrcina, and Ollie as a seasoned producer and songwriter. What brought them together under this new moniker was a shared desire to make music that felt authentic songs that reflected the highs, lows, and nuances of everyday life. Their creative partnership is rooted in trust, mutual respect, and a sense of fun that's palpable in every track they release.

Good Neighbours’ debut single, “Home”, dropped in January 2024 and quickly turned heads. With its soaring chorus, nostalgic piano lines, and uplifting production, the single felt like a love letter to the indie hits of the past. Critics praised the song for its balance of polish and intimacy—reminiscent of Coldplay’s early work, MGMT, and Phoenix. It’s music that feels designed not just for headphone daydreams, but for singing along with friends in the car or at summer festivals.
Another great song is the duo’s second single “Keep It Up”. Energetic and vibrant once again evoking the indie sensations from previous decades. Both singles were eventually released as a part of the Good Neighbours’ self-titled debut EP.
The hallmark of Good Neighbours' sound is their ability to blend indie pop with cinematic emotion. Their tracks often start softly—introspective piano, ambient synths—but build toward euphoric climaxes that make you feel like you’re flying. Vocally, Scott brings a textured, emotive tone that’s both vulnerable and anthemic. Lyrically, their songs explore themes of home, identity, relationships, and personal growth. There's a deep sense of honesty in their writing, which resonates with listeners navigating the turbulence of modern life. Yet, even when the subject matter is heavy, their melodies lift you up.
So, what’s next? With only a few songs out and more in the pipeline, Good Neighbours is still in the early stages of what promises to be an exciting journey. In 2025 they released “Ripple” and “Starry Eyed” which are both just as exciting and energizing as their debut tracks from last year. The duo is set to tour this summer with Mumford and Sons on a US tour, perform at several music festivals including Outside Lands, Osheaga, Austin City Limits, Reading, and Leeds, and then follow it up with a headline club tour this Fall. They also just finished a 23-city tour opening for Foster the People earlier this year.

I believe this group is On The Rise because they are strategically building toward a gigantic debut for mainstream indie fans. They will embark on a massive run of shows this summer playing for hundreds of thousands of fans between the festivals and support slots they have lined up. I also believe that performing alongside amazing artists like Foster the People and Mumford and Sons will grow their live audience rapidly. Good Neighbours are also signed to Polydor which boasts an incredible roster of artists both in the UK and beyond. It will be no surprise to me if this duo ends up being one of the hottest indie bands by the end of the year.
In a music world often driven by spectacle, Good Neighbours offers something more grounded and lasting: a reminder that sometimes, all you need is a good melody, honest words, and a friend by your side. Whether you’re a fan of emotionally rich pop, or indie anthems, or just looking for a new band to soundtrack your daily life, Good Neighbours are worth a listen. They’re more than just a buzzworthy name, they’re building something beautiful, one song at a time.
I cannot wait until they announce another EP release or their debut album. Hopefully they keep it coming!
