An interview with REECEDONTREACT

We got to chat with REECEDONTREACT and it went a little like this...

So how did you get your start in music?

I got my start in music by being surrounded by people who believed in my ability to tell my story. I’ve always been interested in making music but I did not have the confidence to do so for a long time. A year and a half ago I met my producer/engineer Sentfr0mheavn and we both decided it was time to start recording, we been going ever since.

Where are you from? Has it influenced your music?

I’m from Springfield, Ma. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s the birthplace of basketball. Which is pretty legendary. Living on the east coast being exposed to the cold and snow has definitely influenced my music sonically because I create what I feel and the weather definitely plays a part in that.

Whats the story behind your new song 'Pretend'?

My newest song is called “Pretend” and it’s about the choice between choosing someone you know is bad for you versus moving on and risking meeting someone even worse. The idea of staying in a toxic or unhealthy situation just because it’s familiar. And my decision to stop repeating a pattern.

Whats your favorite thing to do on a Saturday?

My favorite thing to do on a Saturday is to link with the rest of my RAGE Forever brothers and create. Feed off each other’s creativity and plot on the overtaking of the world, crazy as that sounds we’re trying to implement a new way of thinking in regards to music and the reception of ours.

What artists have influenced your sound?

The artist that influenced my sound the most is PARTYNEXTDOOR. He’s the goat. I aspire to make people feel the way “Persian Rugs” made me feel the first time hearing it.

What is one album that has changed your life?

An album that changed my life, that’s a hard one. I’d have to say The Weeknd - Trilogy

Lastly, whats up next for you?!

Next in the agenda is a music video for Pretend. It’ll be my first music video ever.
